What belongs in a PDF change receipt
A change receipt should let a second reviewer understand what was compared, how it was compared and which claims were intentionally not made.
Identify both sources
Include original filenames, page counts, byte counts and SHA-256 hashes. Do not replace the evidence with copied files that may later drift.
Record page-level outcomes
List matched, inserted, removed, changed, unchanged and needs-review pages separately, with match confidence and the reason for each pairing.
Include reproducibility settings
Store visual thresholds, margins, alignment limits, changed-region coordinates and text-diff counts in a structured format as well as a human-readable summary.
State the truth boundary
Say plainly that visual equality does not prove semantic equality and that low-confidence, unsupported or not-testable evidence requires human review.
